The quality of a new lawn is determined long before the first roll of turf arrives on site. Ground preparation (removing the old surface, improving drainage, adding topsoil to the right depth, and getting levels accurate) is what creates a lawn that establishes strongly, drains without puddles and stays level over time.

What preparation does a new lawn need?
Good lawn preparation is the most important part. The ground needs to be excavated if compacted, topsoil added to the right depth, levels set, and the surface raked to a fine tilth before turf goes down. A lawn laid on poor preparation won't establish well.
When is the best time of year to lay turf?
Turf can be laid year-round in the UK with the exception of hard frost periods or drought. Autumn and spring are ideal. Summer turf laying requires more diligent watering in the establishment period.
How long before we can use a new lawn?
New turf needs to root before taking foot traffic, typically four to six weeks depending on weather conditions. We'll advise on care requirements when the lawn is laid.
Do you supply the topsoil and turf?
Yes. We source and supply quality topsoil and turf as part of the installation. You don't need to source these separately.
Can you incorporate a new lawn into a wider garden renovation?
Yes. Turfing is part of most complete garden renovations we deliver. It's sequenced correctly so the lawn goes down once the hard landscaping is finished.
