Ground conditions and typical properties
Sunbury sits directly across the river from Walton, and the two towns share a similar landscape character: flat Thames Valley ground, clay soils with seasonal movement, and a mix of property types from Edwardian and interwar housing to newer developments. Sunbury has a number of larger properties in riverside locations and on the roads towards Lower Sunbury.
The flat terrain is the thing to plan for here. Water doesn't run off naturally, so drainage has to be actively managed. Clay expands and contracts with the seasons, which affects how paving beds and foundations need to be prepared. We build drainage in at the groundworks stage on every Sunbury project. Craig Carmen has 21 years' hands-on experience in landscape construction and personally leads every project. He holds a Level 2 Diploma from Merrist Wood College and an NVQ Level 2 in Health and Safety. Dean Carmen brings over 40 years in landscaping and groundworks to the team.
