Ground conditions and typical properties
Woking is a larger Surrey town with a wide range of property types and garden sizes. The outer residential areas, towards Knaphill, Horsell, Pyrford and West Byfleet, tend to have more generous plots where larger garden construction projects are common.
The ground conditions vary more than in the Thames Valley towns: sandy soils in the Woking and Horsell area contrast with the clay more prevalent further east. Sandy soils drain freely but can be less stable under foundations; clay retains water and needs managed drainage. Driveways go in on engineered sub-bases built for vehicle loading, with edging and drainage included. Patios are laid on proper sub-bases with drainage set out first. Plenty of Woking gardens need more than one trade, so we also take on full renovation — groundworks, paving, fencing and lawns set out together.
